Synopsis

Seven hundred years after the Age of Destruction, the Foundation's outpost at Avebury sits on the edge of the wilder lands where the remnants of the old British tribes still hold their ways. When a young Foundation scholar named Belter and a woman from the tribes named Tess fall in love, their relationship becomes a symbol of the hope for reconciliation between the two cultures — and a question of whether love can bridge a divide that history has made nearly insurmountable.
