And Another Thing…
Picking up where Mostly Harmless left off, Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Trillian and Arthur's daughter Random are snatched out of the Vogons' latest demolition of Earth and dropped into a fresh set of problems — among them Zaphod Beeblebrox, the immortal and permanently furious Wowbagger, and a Vogon captain's son who is inconveniently developing a conscience.
Much of the story settles on Nano, a planet colonised by wealthy refugees from Earth whose founder, Hillman Hunter, is shopping for a god to keep the place in order. The applicant he lands is Thor, which turns out to be exactly as manageable as it sounds, and the Vogon fleet is still coming.
Written by Eoin Colfer at the invitation of Douglas Adams's estate and published in 2009, And Another Thing... is the sixth book in the Hitchhiker's Guide "trilogy" — a deliberately warmer send-off than the bleak note Adams left the series on.
This book is the sixth and final installment in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. It is strongly recommended to read the previous five books first to fully understand the characters, ongoing plotlines, and the unique humor that builds throughout the saga.
Eoin Colfer was commissioned by the Douglas Adams estate to write this book as a continuation and conclusion to the series after Adams' passing. It aims to capture the spirit and style of Adams' original five novels while offering Colfer's own narrative voice.
