Douglas Adams was born in Cambridge in March 1952. He was creator of all the various manifestations of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Douglas died unexpectedly in May 2001 of a sudden heart attack at the age of 49.

Synopsis
Seconds before Earth is demolished to make way for a galactic freeway, Arthur Dent is plucked off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect. The pair hitches a ride through the stars, meeting a depressed robot and the two-headed President of the Galaxy. It is a chaotic journey across the universe where the only truly useful item is a bath towel.
