Synopsis

When her mother emigrates for work, 21-year-old Chizu moves in with her eccentric 71-year-old distant relative, Ginko, in a ramshackle Tokyo home. Living in imperfect symmetry, they form an uneasy alliance as Chizu navigates tedious jobs and unsatisfying relationships. Over the course of a year, she slowly finds her footing and forges a fierce independence from her solitude, chronicling the painful process of breaking free from the moorings of youth.
