Synopsis

The Walking Dead, Book Five is a hardcover omnibus collecting issues #49 through #60 of Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard's ongoing series, gathering the storylines "Here We Remain" and "What We Become" with gray-tone art by Cliff Rathburn and lettering by Rus Wooton.

With the prison destroyed and the group scattered across the countryside, Rick and Carl search for shelter in a nearby town while Rick's grip on his own sanity frays and Carl grows harder and more self-reliant in his father's place. As the survivors slowly find their way back to one another, three newcomers — among them the scientist Eugene Porter and the blunt, combative Abraham — arrive with an extraordinary claim: that Washington, D.C. holds the answer to ending the outbreak, and that the group should join them on the road to find out.

It is a volume defined by loss and improvisation as much as violence, following the group as they abandon the safety of walls for the open road and a promise nobody can yet confirm is true.
