The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion, Vol. 1
In 1883, Emma M. Lion comes back to St. Crispian's, her London neighbourhood, expecting a quiet, studious life. Her plans are upset by her eccentric Cousin Archibald, her formidable Aunt Eugenia and the odd residents around her. The novella is told through Emma's journals, which record the mishaps of life at Lapis Lazuli House with dry wit and a sideways amusement. It is the first of a series of short historical comedies by Beth Brower, and readers have compared its voice to Austen, Wilde, Wodehouse and Montgomery.
Narrator of the journals, who returns to her London neighbourhood of St. Crispian's in 1883 hoping for a studious life at Lapis Lazuli House.
