The Unnoticeables
Carey is a punk in New York in 1977 and wants nothing more than cheap beer and the occasional fight. He would ignore the rumours about tar in the sewers, and about the unkillable people turning up at shows, except that his friends keep disappearing and he cannot afterwards describe the faces of the kids who took them.
Kaitlyn moved to Los Angeles in 2013 to work as a stunt double and is not sure it is going well. Then a washed-up teen idol tries to eat her, her best friend vanishes, and something that calls itself an angel is standing in the street outside her building.
The two timelines are up against the same thing: entities that either dissolve the people they choose or hollow them out into something that keeps walking and keeps feeding. Nobody in authority is going to help, and the people best placed to fight back are a drunk punk and an out-of-work stuntwoman.
The first book of the Vicious Circuit trilogy, written with the gag rate of Robert Brockway's Cracked.com columns and none of the restraint, and considerably nastier than the jokes let on.
