Synopsis

Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson has been thrown out of one boarding school after another, and a school trip that turns into a monster attack finally explains why: he is a demigod, the son of the Greek sea god Poseidon, and the creatures of myth are still very much alive. He is taken to Camp Half-Blood on Long Island, a refuge for the children of the gods, and arrives in the middle of a crisis. Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen and Percy is blamed for it. Given ten days to find the real thief before the Olympians go to war, he sets off across the country with Annabeth, a daughter of Athena, and Grover, the satyr sent to protect him, towards a reckoning in the Underworld.

This is the comics adaptation of Rick Riordan's 2005 novel, published by Disney-Hyperion in 2010. Robert Venditti wrote the adaptation, Attila Futaki drew it and José Villarrubia coloured it, condensing the novel into full-colour panels that keep Percy's dry narration and turn the book's road-trip set pieces into visual sequences. It runs 128 pages and is a common entry point for reluctant readers and for readers who want the story again in a different form. It is the first of five graphic novels adapting the original Percy Jackson and the Olympians books.
