Synopsis

Joe needs a quiet house sitter for his rambling old place by the sea, and Tess turns up at his door having traveled hundreds of miles, refusing to leave until he gives her the job. From the start they intrigue and irritate each other in equal measure — but he needs her as much as she needs him.

With Joe frequently away for work, the house becomes Tess's haven and the quirky seaside town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea her home, its residents her friends. Before long she finds herself looking forward to Joe's returns more and more — and for him, travel starts to lose its appeal. Both are guarded about their pasts, and the question of which secrets they'll keep from each other, and which they'll share, drives this warm, emotional novel from bestselling author Freya North.
