Synopsis

The world has been irrevocably changed by rising temperatures, turning London into a flooded, tropical landscape. As some flee the sweltering heat and primeval dangers, others remain, drawn by the allure of lost treasures beneath the waves. Dr. Robert Kerans finds himself adapting to this new reality, questioning the very idea of saving a world that has already drowned.

In 1943 the Japanese occupied the International Settlement and Ballard's family was sent to the Lunghua Civilian Assembly Center, where they were interned for two years until the end of World War II.
