Synopsis

A short story set in an alternate early-twentieth-century Cairo where magic, djinn, and angels exist alongside steampunk invention. A young woman visits an angel in the bustling Khan el-Khalili souk one night, seeking a miracle for her dying sister — and finds that every miracle has a price. A prequel to P. Djèlí Clark's Dead Djinn Universe novels, first published in the anthology Clockwork Cairo: Steampunk Tales of Egypt.

Born in Queens, New York, he was raised largely in Houston, Texas, and spent formative early years in Trinidad and Tobago, his parents' homeland.
