Synopsis

Chad Newsome is enjoying the sophisticated allure of Paris, but his mother wants him home to manage the family business. She dispatches Lambert Strether and Sarah Pocock to retrieve him, but Strether finds himself captivated by Europe's charm and the enigmatic Madame de Vionnet. Torn between duty and desire, Strether must navigate complex personal attachments and the romanticized ideal of France, all while trying to bring Chad back to America.
