Silent Lies is the eighth book in Neva Altaj's Perfectly Imperfect mafia romance series, and can be read as a standalone. Sienna is married off to Drago, the deaf, possessive head of a Serbian crime organization, as part of a fragile truce with her own family's Cosa Nostra connections — with orders to report back everything she overhears in his home. Drago suspects his new wife is a spy from the start, but finds he can't bring himself to punish her for it.
What follows is a grumpy-sunshine, age-gap romance between two people who each hide as much as they show: Sienna's outward positivity masks a private history that includes a suicide attempt, while Drago's guardedness traces back to the hearing loss and survivor's guilt he's never spoken about. As their arranged marriage becomes something neither of them planned on, the line between the lies they were told to keep and the truths they can't stop confessing keeps blurring.
Like the rest of the Perfectly Imperfect series, Silent Lies is written to a no-cheating, guaranteed-HEA promise, alongside the mafia violence and intense themes typical of the genre.
