Synopsis

In the winter of 1944, Private Donald R. Burgett and the 101st Airborne Division, exhausted from previous battles, found their rest cut short by Hitler's surprise Ardennes offensive. Rushed to the critical Belgian crossroads town of Bastogne, these lightly-armed paratroopers became the last line of defense against a massive Nazi onslaught. This memoir recounts Burgett's harrowing experience as a young soldier, barely twenty, fighting in the epic Battle of the Bulge, a pivotal moment in World War II.
