Synopsis

Augusten Burroughs' childhood took a sharp turn when his poet mother, suffering from delusions, sent him to live with her psychiatrist. Twelve-year-old Augusten found himself in a chaotic, dilapidated Victorian home where the doctor's eccentric family and peculiar patients created a world with no rules. Amidst the squalor and bizarre happenings, including a vintage electroshock-therapy machine, Augusten navigated a childhood unlike any other.
