Synopsis

When her father dies suddenly, Merrick Darling is pulled from her comfortable life in New London society back to Norland House, her family's crumbling estate on the edge of the toxic fog that turns commoners into monstrous Phantoms. Immune to the fog herself, Merrick has never feared becoming one of the creatures that stalk the border, but Sussex is being breached, and to find out why she must work with the estate's watchful sentry, Killian Brandon.

As old family secrets surface, Merrick learns that the line between monster and protector was never as clear as she believed, and that her sister Essie has been carrying a burden of her own. A Regency-set romantasy that reworks the sibling rivalries of Sense and Sensibility into a story of inheritance, duty, and creeping horror at the edge of civilization.
