Synopsis

Maestro follows Aurelia Ramirez Preston and Chadwick David from the moment a music audition at LaGuardia Arts High School brings them together as thirteen-year-olds. Their friendship deepens into a first love that neither of them ever fully lets go of, even as life repeatedly pulls them apart.

As the years pass, Chad rises to fame as "Maestro," a celebrated musician, while Aurelia builds her own career as a cellist, remaining his muse from a distance. The novel is structured in four movements that trace their relationship from adolescence into adulthood, through breakups, reconciliations, family interference, other partners, and the professional pressures of Chad's career — each time circling back to the question of whether they can ever get their timing right.

It is a long-arc romance about two people whose connection outlasts years of separation, secrets, and heartbreak.
