Synopsis

"One Night in Every City" (ليل واحد في كل المدن) is a poetry collection by the Iraqi poet, novelist, and translator Sinan Antoon, published in 2010 by Dar al-Jamal in Beirut. Born in Baghdad in 1967 and long based in the United States, where he teaches Arabic literature, Antoon writes poetry shaped by exile, memory, and the long shadow that war and dictatorship cast over his homeland.

This is his second collection, following Mawshūr Muballal bil-Ḥurūb. His poems move between cities and languages, tracing a displaced sensibility that recurs throughout his celebrated fiction as well.
