Synopsis

Legacy of Light, published in 2021, is the spectacular finale of Matthew Ward's Legacy Trilogy, bringing his large-scale multi-POV epic fantasy to a close. A fragile peace holds between the Tressian Republic and the Hadari Empire, but ambition and forbidden power threaten to reignite the conflict that has defined the series.

The book follows Empress Melanna Saranal defending a hard-won throne and the Republic's Lord Protector pursuing dangerous magic to restore what he has lost, as the trilogy's mythology and warfare converge. Ward pays off the intertwined arcs of soldiers, nobles, and gods established across the first two volumes.

Combining court intrigue, battlefield spectacle, and a mythic supernatural backdrop, Legacy of Light concludes one of the more ambitious debut trilogies in recent fantasy.
