Synopsis

The Dragon Rider Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have come a long way from the farm where their story began, but the war against the tyrant Galbatorix is far from won. In this final volume of the Inheritance Cycle, the Varden rebellion presses toward the heart of the Empire, and Eragon must confront the truth that not even a Rider and dragon may be strong enough to topple a king who has hoarded a century of power.

As alliances are tested and long-held secrets come to light, Eragon, his cousin Roran, the Varden's leader Nasuada, and their allies gamble everything on a march against Galbatorix's stronghold. Victory, if it comes, will demand terrible sacrifices — and will change the shape of Alagaësia, and Eragon's own future, forever.

Christopher Paolini's Inheritance brings his bestselling epic fantasy series to a sweeping close, delivering the battles, revelations, and hard-won resolutions readers have followed across four books.
