Finishing this series — for the second time — leaves me with a huge sense of loss.
These books, despite the fact that many in the book community dislike them, shaped me as much as the Harry Potter series did when I was twelve and thirteen — probably more, in fact. This is the first time I've read the whole series from start to finish since the last book came out, and it's like finally bidding my childhood goodbye. I'm twenty years old now, and while that's not a lot, I feel like I can never go back. I was a child when I found these books. Now, an adult, I am a very different person. Part of who I am is because of my adventures with Eragon and Saphira. And I wouldn't give it up for the world.
These books mean so much to me. I do, and always will, love them with all of my heart.
