It Began with a Page
This book tells the story of Gyo Fujikawa, a pioneering children's book illustrator whose artistic talent defied the limitations placed on women and Japanese people in the early twentieth century. Despite facing challenges, including her family's internment during World War II, Gyo continued to create, eventually illustrating the first children's book to feature multiracial children interacting together.
