Synopsis

Picking up in the immediate aftermath of Divergent, Insurgent finds Tris Prior reeling from loss and violence. War is spreading between the factions, and the fragile order of her world is collapsing. Haunted by the choices she has made and the people she could not save, Tris must decide whom to trust as alliances shift and the factionless, the Erudite, and the remnants of the other factions maneuver for control.

Alongside Four, Tris searches for the truth behind the escalating conflict — and for the secret the old leaders were willing to kill to protect. Grief, guilt, and hard decisions test her courage as much as any physical danger, and the cost of the coming rebellion grows steeper.

The second book in Veronica Roth's trilogy raises the stakes of its dystopian world, deepening its questions about loyalty, sacrifice, and the price of the truth.
