Synopsis

It's springtime in 1944, and Molly McIntire is delighted to learn that Emily, an English girl, will be staying with her family while her father is away at war. Molly pictures a glamorous new friend, but Emily turns out to be shy and reserved, having lived through real bombing raids back home. As the girls navigate their differences, Molly learns that Emily hasn't had a proper birthday celebration in years — and decides to share her own birthday with her new friend.
