Synopsis

Narrated by Adam Kent, this short companion novella unfolds in the tense hours before Omega Point launches an all-out assault on The Reestablishment forces stationed in Sector 45. Adam's mind is far from the coming battle. He is reeling from his breakup with Juliette, terrified for the safety of his younger brother James, and increasingly uncertain whether the resistance is a life he can keep living. As the alarms finally sound and war begins, Adam is forced to act despite his doubts. Told in present tense, the story overlaps with the final stretch of Unravel Me, retelling events through Adam's eyes and bridging into Ignite Me. The novella foregrounds Adam's protectiveness toward James, his fading relationship with Juliette, and his uneasy place among the rebels, giving weight to decisions that ripple into the next full-length book. It is a brief, battle-shadowed character study rather than a self-contained plot, setting the stage for the conflict to come.
