Synopsis

A novella set in the world of the Hopeless series, Finding Cinderella follows Six — the best friend from Hopeless — as she returns home and unexpectedly reconnects with Daniel, a young man she once shared an anonymous conversation with in a darkened storage closet. Neither knew the other's name; neither expected to cross paths again. Shorter and lighter in tone than the main series, it offers a romantic counterpoint to the heavier emotional weight of Hopeless and Losing Hope. Best read after both prior books, as Six and Daniel are established supporting characters whose histories inform the novella.

Frequently asked questions

  • Who are Six and Daniel, and do I need to have read Hopeless first?

Six is the best friend of the protagonist in Hopeless, and Daniel is a secondary character from that novel. While Finding Cinderella can be read independently, it carries significantly more emotional resonance for readers who already know these characters from the main series.

  • What is the storage closet scene that sets up the plot?

Early in the novella, Six and Daniel share a brief, anonymous connection in a dark closet during a party — neither knowing the other's name or identity. When they encounter each other later in a completely different context, recognizing each other creates the central complication of the story.

  • How long is Finding Cinderella?

It is a novella of approximately 130 pages in its print edition — considerably shorter than the main Hopeless series novels. It reads quickly and is often described by readers as an emotional palate cleanser after the heavier content of the first two books.

  • What is the tone of Finding Cinderella compared to Hopeless?

Noticeably lighter. While the Hopeless series deals with serious trauma, Finding Cinderella is a romantic comedy-of-errors novella with a hopeful tone throughout. Hoover has described it as a "fun" entry that gives readers a break before the more emotionally demanding content of later books in the series.

  • Does Finding Cinderella connect to All Your Perfects or Finding Perfect?

The same fictional world is shared across the series. Characters from Finding Cinderella appear briefly in later entries, and the emotional closure Six receives here informs her role in Finding Perfect, which gives her a more substantial arc.

  • Is Finding Cinderella included in any combined editions?

It has been packaged with other novellas in various box set editions. As a standalone purchase it is typically available as a short ebook or paperback. Some readers discover it only after completing Hopeless and Losing Hope, which is the intended reading order.
