Synopsis

In 412 B.C., after Athens' defeat, Athenian prisoners in Syracuse are condemned to a harsh existence in the city's quarries. Lampo, a disillusioned young man, finds his apathy challenged when his friend Gelone devises a daring plan: to stage Euripides' tragedies with the prisoners. As Lampo becomes drawn into the project, he forms unexpected bonds and falls in love, but the performances ignite old hatreds, forcing him and Gelone to protect their endeavor and their new friends. This ancient tale explores themes of brotherhood, conflict, and the enduring power of beauty to inspire hope amidst indifference.
