Consent to Kill
Synopsis
Consent to Kill finds CIA counterterrorism operative Mitch Rapp targeted for assassination after a wealthy, influential Saudi father demands retribution for his son's death at Rapp's hands. With a bounty placed on Rapp and a professional husband-and-wife assassin team hired to collect it, an attack leaves Rapp gravely wounded and forces the CIA to fake his death while he recovers off the grid.
As Rapp heals, he turns from target to hunter, working to trace the international conspiracy back to the men who ordered the hit — even as some of America's own allies quietly hope he doesn't survive to finish the job. The novel moves between Rapp's recovery, the machinations of the men hunting him, and the wider web of intelligence services with their own reasons to see him gone.
Like the rest of the series, the book is built around fast-moving espionage tradecraft, morally compromised allies, and Rapp's willingness to operate outside the rules everyone else is bound by.
