Synopsis

Nine years after Dune Messiah, the twin children of Paul Atreides — Leto II and Ghanima — are growing up on Arrakis under the regency of their aunt Alia. Born with the full awareness and ancestral memories of their bloodline, the twins are extraordinary and endangered: rival houses, religious factions, and forces within their own family all see them as threats or instruments.

As Alia's grip on power grows increasingly unstable and a mysterious preacher appears in the desert to denounce the religion built around Muad'Dib, Leto must confront a vision of humanity's future so radical that pursuing it will demand an almost unimaginable personal sacrifice — a choice known as the Golden Path.

The third book in Frank Herbert's saga completes the original Dune trilogy, drawing together its themes of ecology, prophecy, and the price of foresight. It sets the stage for the far stranger, more distant future the series would go on to explore.
