Synopsis

Luke Hamilton has always been sure she would never marry. She has lived as a man for years, and the arrangement suits her. Nora Macauley, a single mother who spent three years working in a brothel, has given up on the idea of being rescued by anyone.

Then the two of them find themselves married and heading west in a covered wagon, with roughly two thousand miles of the Oregon Trail ahead. What starts as a practical arrangement between near strangers is tested by the dangers of the journey and by the secrets each of them carries, and slowly becomes something neither expected.

Backwards to Oregon is a historical lesbian romance and the first book in Jae's Oregon Series. The story was first published in 2007 and revised for Ylva Publishing, whose 2017 edition also includes the short story "A Rooster's Job". The first edition won a Golden Crown Literary Society award for historical romance.
