Synopsis

Denise Baudu arrives in 1860s Paris with nothing but her two younger brothers to support. She finds work at a massive, modern department store where the staff faces grueling hours and fierce internal competition. As the store's owner ruthlessly expands his empire and crushes local shops, Denise must navigate a high-stakes world of commerce and an unexpected romance.
