Acolyte

Taly's mother's spells break, and her powers are released. She is no longer mortal but fey, and the life she thought she knew turns out to have been false. Then a woman claiming to be the Time Queen captures her and holds her prisoner.

The only road home runs through the Queen's game. Taly must train in time magic and become an Acolyte, a task that could take years.

In Tempris, Skye is the last line of defense against an invading horde of walking dead. He has no name or face for the enemy behind them, and traitors are working inside the city walls.

Everyone tells him Taly is dead. Skye refuses to accept it and is ready to pay any price to bring her back.

The book is fantasy with a love story that spans time and distance, forbidden magic, and a renegade queen. It follows two points of view, Taly's and Skye's, as war approaches. Their loyalties are pushed toward breaking. Mature themes are present.
