Synopsis

Nero Wolfe and his partner Archie Goodwin are hired by Paul Whipple to investigate the murder of Susan Brooke, a white woman and member of the Rights of Citizens Committee, who was found dead in her Harlem apartment. The case is complicated by the racial politics of the early 1960s Civil Rights movement and the hypocrisy of the white elite surrounding it. As Archie and Nero dig into the lives of those close to Susan, they uncover a web of betrayal, prejudice, and hidden motives, all while navigating the eccentricities of their own partnership.
