Synopsis
Lord Victor Narraway, former head of London's Special Branch, and his wife Lady Vespasia arrive at Cavendish Hall expecting a quiet country Christmas among old friends. Victor is secretly overseeing the handover of sensitive papers meant to expose a traitor, but the exchange goes wrong when his contact is attacked and nearly killed. As the house party continues under a thin veneer of festive cheer, painful memories of a similar gathering years earlier resurface, and Victor begins to suspect that the past and present cases are connected. He and Vespasia have to work out who among their old acquaintances is capable of murder before the holiday ends.
