She sold her first manuscript in 1984 after years of rejection and went on to publish more than 150 books, including the long-running Cedar Cove and Blossom Street series; Cedar Cove was adapted into a Hallmark Channel television series (2013–2015). She received the Romance Writers of America's Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.
