Synopsis

Bridget von Ascheberg never expected to inherit a throne, but when her brother steps aside she becomes the reluctant heir to a small European kingdom, her every move dictated by duty. Rhys Larsen is the stoic ex-military bodyguard assigned to protect her, a man with an iron rule against getting emotionally involved with the people he guards. Forced into constant proximity, the princess and her protector slide from wary friction into a romance that neither royal protocol nor his professional code permits. The second Twisted book trades the first's darkness for a forbidden royal-bodyguard slow burn, following one of the four friends at the heart of the series as she fights for a sliver of freedom and the one person she is forbidden to want.

Frequently asked questions

  • What's the trope in Twisted Games?

A forbidden bodyguard-princess romance, built on forced proximity and a slow burn between a duty-bound royal heir and the protector sworn not to fall for his clients.

  • Is Twisted Games a bodyguard romance?

Yes. It is explicitly marketed as a forbidden royal-bodyguard romance, pairing a reluctant princess with the bodyguard sworn to protect her.

  • Do I need to read the other books in the series to understand this one?

While this book is part of an interconnected series, it functions as a standalone with its own central couple and plot. You may encounter minor cameos or references to characters from other books, but they are not required reading to follow the story.

  • Where does it fall in the series?

It is the second book in the Twisted series and follows Bridget, one of the four friends the series centers on.

  • How does the timeline of this book relate to the first book in the series?

The narrative is structured in two parts, with the first part overlapping chronologically with the events of the preceding book, Twisted Love. The second part of the story then progresses into the present day, following the conclusion of the first book.

  • Do I have to read Twisted Love first?

The Twisted books are interconnected standalones, so each can be read alone, but reading in order (starting with Twisted Love) best follows the recurring friend group.

  • Is this connected to the Kings of Sin books?

Yes, through Ana Huang's shared universe, where characters and references cross between her series.

  • Is it as dark as the other Twisted books?

No. Twisted Games is one of the lighter entries, leaning on a slow-burn forbidden romance rather than the darker tone of Twisted Love or Twisted Lies.
