Famous Women Quartet

About this series

Four standalone novels by Taylor Jenkins Reid, published between 2017 and 2022, each following a different woman at the height of public fame: a Golden Age film star, the singer at the front of a 1970s rock band, a surfing supermodel and her siblings, and a champion tennis player. The books share a fictional California and are linked by recurring names and passing references rather than by a continuing story — the publisher assigns them no series, and there is no required reading order. The numbering below is publication order. Carrie Soto Is Back is generally described as the last of the four; Reid's later novels are set outside this world. The short story Evidence of the Affair is listed as a companion: it stands entirely alone, but carries passing references to characters from these books.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do these books need to be read in a specific order?

These novels are standalone stories that share a common fictional universe rather than a sequential series. While they contain interconnected character cameos and references, you can read them in any order without missing essential plot points.

  • How are these books connected to each other?

The books are linked through a shared network of fictional celebrities, media outlets, and recurring secondary characters who appear across different timelines. These connections often manifest as subtle easter eggs, such as characters attending the same parties or being mentioned in the tabloids of another novel.

  • Are there any film or television adaptations of these books?

Daisy Jones & The Six has been adapted into a television series, and a film adaptation of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is currently in development.
