Synopsis

Carrie Soto is the greatest tennis player the world has ever seen, holder of a record twenty Grand Slam titles won through a fierce, uncompromising drive that made her as feared as she was admired. But six years after retiring, she watches from the stands as a younger rival threatens to break the record she gave everything to set.

So, at thirty-seven — an age most players consider finished — Carrie decides to come back. Reuniting with her father and first coach, the man who taught her everything, she trains her aging body to the limit and endures a press that has never forgiven her ambition, chasing one more season to defend her place in history.

Taylor Jenkins Reid delivers a fierce, moving story about excellence and its cost, the bond between a father and daughter, and what it means to want to be the best.
