About this series
Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach novels follow Area X, a stretch of the American coast that has been sealed off for decades and is slowly rewriting everything sent into it. Annihilation goes in with the twelfth expedition, Authority stays behind at the agency charged with explaining it, Acceptance reaches back to how the border first fell, and Absolution returns to the years before the first expedition. A fifth novel, Abdication, is announced for 2027. Area X: The Southern Reach Trilogy collects the first three in one volume.
