Zero Tolerance

Sergeant Jo Barnes runs an elite, all-female US Army unit that investigates sex crimes inside the military — the cases nobody on a base wants opened. Her latest takes her into the Mojave, to Fort Irwin, where Private Nichelle Simmons has disappeared. Simmons had accused a fellow soldier of assault. The soldier has been quietly set free.

What Jo, Maddie and Luna find is not evidence so much as a wall: obstruction from officers, silence from witnesses, and a chain of command with an obvious preference for the version of events in which nothing happened. The further in they push, the clearer it is that someone is prepared to do considerably worse than lie.

Zero Tolerance is an Audible Original audio drama written by James Patterson and Duane Swierczynski, performed by a full cast led by Hilary Swank as Jo Barnes, with Christine Ko and Melonie Diaz. It exists only as audio — there is no print edition — and runs a little over three hours.
