What's Done In the Dark
Felise is a nurse, a wife and a woman who has never strayed. Then one night she sleeps with Stephen, the husband of her best friend Paula, and wakes beside him the next morning to find that he has died of a heart attack in the hotel bed.
She leaves the room without telling anyone. A day later Paula learns that Stephen is dead, and Felise has to stand beside her friend and her family as they grieve while carrying what she knows.
The pressure builds from two sides. Felise's own husband keeps trying to apologize for his distracted behavior, and Paula begins asking where Stephen was and who he spent his last night with. Felise struggles to keep her composure as the questions close in on her.
The choice at the center is plain: confess to everyone, or bury the mistake and try to move on alone. This is contemporary women's fiction about friendship, marriage, guilt and grief. The tone is dramatic and emotional, and the tension comes from a secret that could surface at any moment in a close circle of people.
