Synopsis

Ben Aaronovitch's Transit is a gritty urban-fantasy crime novel set in a version of London where magic is a known, regulated part of life. When a witch's curse is linked to a murder, Sergeant Peter Grant — a wizard-in-training and a former constable — must navigate the murky line between the magical and the mundane to solve the case. Atmospheric, darkly funny, and relentlessly paced, it's the opening of the Rivers of London series.
