Synopsis

Rose Wakefield has spent her life on the streets of London learning to con gentlemen out of their money without getting caught — until she knocks on the wrong earl's door. Instead of the notorious rake she meant to target, she finds Carver Ashburn, Earl of Kensworth, a genuinely good man using her ruse as an escape from his own grief. He plays along and offers to marry her.

What starts as a convenient lie grows complicated once Carver brings Rose to his family estate and circumstances force them both to keep up the pretense. Carver needs to protect his family's standing; Rose needs to protect herself, and increasingly, her heart. To Con a Gentleman is the first book in Sarah Adams's Dalton Family series, a Regency romance with a light, modern tone.
