Synopsis

The Widow's House is the fourth and penultimate novel in Daniel Abraham's epic fantasy series The Dagger and the Coin. By this point the series' patient, character-first storytelling pays off in accumulating tension: an empire remade by faith and fear, a banker trying to fight it with credit and confidence, and a noblewoman quietly betraying the regime she was raised to serve.

Abraham braids four viewpoints: Geder Palliako's fraying tyranny, Clara Kalliam's costly resistance, Cithrin bel Sarcour's financial gambits, and Marcus Wester's uncovering of the world's oldest secrets. The book is frequently praised for pairing brilliantly paced action with the quiet, human moments that make the eventual stakes land.

Readers drawn to intelligent, morally complex epic fantasy about power, money, and belief will find The Widow's House one of the series' strongest installments, positioning every thread for the concluding volume.
