Synopsis

The Tyrant's Law is the third book in Daniel Abraham's epic fantasy series The Dagger and the Coin, and the point at which the saga's political and moral stakes reach full pitch. Abraham, co-author as James S. A. Corey of The Expanse, is celebrated for fantasy that treats economics, diplomacy, and belief as seriously as battle.

Here the series' four principal viewpoints converge on a widening war. Geder Palliako's rule hardens into tyranny as the cult of the spider goddess drives Antea toward atrocity; Cithrin bel Sarcour searches for a way to turn commerce into a weapon; Clara Kalliam builds a subtle resistance; and Marcus Wester and Master Kit close in on the ancient truth behind the goddess's power.

For readers who want morally complex, slow-burning epic fantasy about the machinery of power, The Tyrant's Law is a standout middle volume in one of modern fantasy's most intelligent series.
