Synopsis

Private investigator Lew Archer is hired by a worried mother to find her missing daughter, but the search quickly leads him into the dark underbelly of coastal California. He finds himself caught between ruthless mobsters and a woman who might be more dangerous than the men hunting her. This hardboiled mystery explores how far people will go for money and the high cost of getting involved with the wrong crowd.
