Synopsis

The Silvered Serpents is the second novel in Roshani Chokshi's Gilded Wolves trilogy, continuing a lush historical fantasy set in 1889 Europe where a magic system called Forging lets practitioners reshape matter and mind. After the losses of the first book, treasure-hunter Severin and his tight-knit crew set out to recover an artifact rumored to hold the power of a god.

The hunt draws the team away from Paris and into the frozen heart of Russia, where haunted estates, mythic puzzles, and unsolved murders test both their skills and their fraying bonds. Chokshi layers art, history, and symbolism into an ensemble adventure that gives each character an interior arc shaped by grief and desire.

Richer and darker than its predecessor, the book rewards readers who enjoy atmospheric, puzzle-driven fantasy with a diverse cast and slow-building relationships. It is the middle volume of a trilogy and should be read in order.
