Synopsis

On-the-run ex-agent Peri Reed returns in the sequel to The Drafter. Betrayed by the man she loved and by the agency that made her into the thing she fought against, Peri has abandoned the wealth and privilege of Opti for an anonymous life riddled with memory gaps and self-doubt.

Then a highly addictive drug appears that promises to end her dependence on the people who would use her as a tool for their own success. She has to choose between remaining broken and vulnerable, or returning to the above-the-law power she once had — strong, but without will, because whoever holds her next fix holds her loyalty. As before, a love built on lies of omission may be the thing that saves her.

The Operator is the second book in Kim Harrison's Peri Reed Chronicles, an action-driven near-future thriller.
