The Mapmakers

Tamzin Merchant is an English actress and author. She has appeared in The Tudors, Pride & Prejudice, Salem and Carnival Row. She began writing after a dream, during filming for Carnival Row, about a London family who weave magic into hats. That became her debut novel, The Hatmakers (2021), the first in a middle-grade fantasy series following Cordelia Hatmaker, continued in The Mapmakers (2022) and The Troublemakers (2024).

Paola Escobar is a Colombian illustrator and graphic designer based in Bogotá. She grew up moving between towns in Colombia, sketching the stories her grandmother told about their family, the countryside and its animals — an early love of drawing that grew into a childhood ambition to illustrate children's books.
