Synopsis

The second book in Nikki St. Crowe's Vicious Lost Boys picks up in the aftermath of Winnie Darling's arrival in Neverland, as the fragile, dangerous bonds between her and the Lost Boys deepen. Old rivalries flare, buried secrets about the island's magic surface, and the volatile Vane moves to the center of the story.

Winnie is still learning the rules of a place where power is currency and desire cannot be trusted — but she is done being anyone's pawn. As threats close in on Pan's hold over Neverland, she and the boys are forced to decide who they can rely on when the island itself seems to want her.

Darker and steamier than the opener, The Dark One continues the explicit adult Peter Pan retelling with high heat, morally grey antiheroes, and a sharpening mythology. Best read in sequence after The Never King.
